Okay, there’s this.
And then, I’ll direct you to this.
But about the first link, to Operation Rescue’s efforts to encourage a filibuster on the vote to nominate Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court: Notice the little blurb under the graphic rendering Sotomayor as the Angel of Death or whatever, the one that says “Fifty million children are dead in America by abortions?” Maybe that’s, like, over time or whatever- maybe- but Eric and I were astounded at this figure tonight at dinner.
I mean, reeeally?!?! Fifty million children? That’s a lot of abortions!! Think about it: since we have no historical context from this ad- no surprise, really, ‘cuz that would just make things too complicated, ya know?- let’s assume that they’re saying recently, within maybe the last 5 years or something, 50 million abortions have been performed. If there are 300 million people in the U.S., and roughly 50 percent of them are women, then that means 1 in 3 women have had an abortion. This doesn’t even take into consideration how many of those 150 million women are actually of child-bearing age which would then lower the ratio of women who had had abortions…but hey, who am I to quibble about little things like facts and accuracy? I mean, facts are tricky, after all, and they might just mess up your “argument,” if you even want to call it that.
Whatever, people. Again, check out the second link and the links in it to get a sense of just how bananas this shit is.
